Drink-driver crashed car killing her own auntie after night at pub

A drink-driver has been jailed after she crashed her car through a fence and into a tree causing the death of her auntie who was a passenger in the car. Keavi Illsley, 24, had left a pub with her auntie, Katie Westwood, in the early hours of October 8 last year. Illsley, from Burton-on-Trent, had been drinking but got behind the wheel of her Vauxhall Corsa.

Katie was a passenger on the back seat. During the journey, the car came off the road on Bitham Lane, Stretton, and crashed through a fence before hitting a tree. Katie suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision.

Illsley took her out of the car after the crash. Sadly, Katie was later found dead near to where it happened. READ:Detectives get extra time to quiz Stafford murder suspectStaffordshire Police remain at the crime scene on Oberton Gardens[1]
