Driver dies after M1 crash involving Mercedes car transporter

The driver of a car transporter died after the vehicle collided with the central reservation on the M1[1]. Police have launched an investigation after the incident on the northbound carriageway on November 22. At about 2.05pm, the driver of a white Mercedes Sprinter car transporter was involved in a collision, Northants Live reports[2].

It happened between junctions 14 for Milton Keynes and 15 for Northampton[3]. It isn’t known why the vehicle hit the central reservation at this stage. The driver – a man in his 40s – died at the scene.

As a result of the collision, one of the vehicles being transported – a BMW – became detached and collided with a bridge. Fortunately, no other vehicles were involved. Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have dash cam footage of the collision, or who may have seen the car transporter travelling in the area prior to the incident.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Anyone with information is asked to email CollisionAppeals@northants. police[4].uk or call the Drivewatch Hotline on 0800 174615, or Northamptonshire Police on 101.
