Drivers warned of delays on motorway after crash involving two lorries
The scene on the M62 in West Yorkshire this morning (Image: National Highways) DRIVERS are being warned of long delays after a crash involving a lorry and a HGV on the M62 this morning. The collision happened on the westbound stretch of the motorway from junction 27, for Gildersome, to junction 26, for Chain Bar.
Two lanes remain closed and heavy traffic has been reported, according to travel monitoring site Inrix. Congestion is stretching back to to junction 29, for Lofthouse. A West Yorkshire[1] Police spokesperson said: “Police were called to the M62 westbound at junction 27 at 7.42am to a report of a collision between a HGV and a van.
“No injuries were reported and work remains ongoing to clear the carriageway.”
A National Highways spokesperson said shortly before 9am: “Lanes two and three are closed on the M62 westbound between junction 27 and junction 26 for recovery following a multi-vehicle collision.
“Please allow extra time if travelling in the area as delays of 45 minutes above the normal travel time remain between junction 30 and junction 29.”
