Emergency closure on busy Somerset commuter route

Motorists are being warned of an emergency road closure on a busy route on the outskirts of a Somerset town. The road closure came into force on Tuesday night (November 21) on the B3128 Tickenham Hill due to Openreach needing access to an ‘underground[1] structure’ to install cabling. The road closure is in place overnight from 7pm to 6am.

It is expected that the closure[2] will be lifted tomorrow (November 23). People are being advised to take an alternative route through Nailsea[3] before re-joining the B3128 via Wraxall Hill. The closure comes at the same time as there are roadworks and traffic lights on the B3130 Clevedon Road in Tickenham due to drainage work.

The B3218 is a busy route from North Somerset into Bristol.
