Exeter City tribute to tragic teenagers

Tributes will be paid before Exeter City’s League One clash with Shrewsbury Town tonight to four teenagers who died in a tragic accident in Wales last week. Jevon Hirst, 16, Harvey Owen, 17, Wilf Fitchett, 17, and Hugo Morris, 18[1], were discovered in a car following the tragic accident this week as they travelled to Snowdonia. Police said their silver Ford Fiesta left a road on a tight bend and overturned in a flooded ditch.

The boys were all students at Shrewsbury College in Shropshire. Ahead of the clash between Exeter[2] City and Shrewsbury Town at St James Park tonight, a minute’s applause will be held in their memory. It follows a request by Salop which both the Grecians and the EFL have agreed to.

A statement from Exeter City FC said: “Before Tuesday night’s game against Shrewsbury Town there will be a minute’s applause in memory of four Shrewsbury boys who died in a tragic accident in Wales last week. “Many will have seen the news of the deaths of Jevon, Harvey, Wilf and Hugo in the national news, following a car crash in Garreg, Gwynedd. At the request of Shrewsbury Town, ourselves and the EFL have agreed to hold a period of remembrance for the four boys, who were well known in the Shrewsbury area and whose loss has affected many.

“As a club, our thoughts are with the family and friends of the four young men, and the Shrewsbury community.

R.I.P.

Please join us in showing your respects on Tuesday evening, and ensure you are in the ground promptly before kick-off.”
