Family pays tribute to ‘loving granddad’, 85, who died after being hit by multiple vehicles

The heartbroken family of a pedestrian, 85, killed when he was struck by multiple vehicles in High Legh, has paid tribute to a "loving husband, father, brother, and granddad". Douglas Burke tragically died last Monday (November 20), after a crash on the A50 near the junction with Swineyard Lane. He had been hit by a number of vehicles, police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Mr Burke's family said: "On Monday, November 20, Douglas Burke tragically passed away after being involved in a road traffic accident in Cheshire. Douglas was enjoying his retirement, travelling around the UK and Europe when not playing golf or meeting with friends.

He will be missed by many people around the world." Police were called to the scene around 8.17pm. Enquiries in relation to the collision remain ongoing, police said, as they urged anyone with information or video footage which may aid the investigation to call 101 or visit www.cheshire.police.uk/tell-us, quoting IML- 1695711.
