Four bodies found in search for missing boys near Snowdonia in North Wales
Police have found four bodies in the search for missing boys in North Wales. A police search was launched after the boys Jevon Hirst, Harvey Owen, Wilf Henderson and Hugo Morris, from the Harlech and Porthmadog areas, were all reported missing and it is thought they were going camping in Snowdonia. Now North Wales Police have confirmed that four bodies have been found in and the force is currently treating it as a 'tragic accident'.
Superintendent Owain Llewellyn said: "At present, this appears to have been a tragic accident, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the four young men at this very difficult time. "This has been an extensive search involving a number of different agencies and volunteers, and this is sadly not the outcome that any of us would have wanted. "We would ask that the family be afforded the appropriate privacy and respect."
Earlier today, a police helicopter joined the search for the group of friends and at 12.04pm, a silver Ford Fiesta belonging to the group was found. North Wales Police say that the car was found following a tip off from the public. Police added in a press conference that the car was found on its roof and 'partially submerged in water' and the bodies of four young men were pulled from it.
Investigations are now ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding how their car would have left the road, police said.
The four - all thought to be in their teens - were last seen jumping into the vehicle on Sunday morning.
It's thought that the young men, who were reportedly experienced campers, may have been heading to Snowdonia as they had their equipment with them.
