Four in hospital after crash on Whitworth Lane in Spennymoor
Emergency services were called to Whitworth Lane in Spennymoor at about 9.15am on Tuesday (November 21), following reports of a road traffic collision. Following the incident, the North East Ambulance Service has confirmed that four people are in hospital. The condition of the people involved is not known at this time. A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to a road traffic collision this morning (November 21) shortly at 9.18am in Whitworth, Spennymoor.
A Great North Air Ambulance (Image: GNAAS) "We dispatched four ambulance crews, a rapid response paramedic, one clinical team leader, and two crews from our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and we were supported by our colleagues at Great North Air Ambulance Service. "Four patients were taken to University Hospital of North Durham."
The Great North Air Ambulance also confirmed their attendance but said that they weren't required to take anyone to hospital - but did help paramedics at the scene. A spokesperson for the Great North Air Ambulance said: "Our critical care team was activated at 9.30am to reports of a road traffic collision on Whitworth Lane in Spennymoor.

"Our team worked alongside the North East Ambulance Service to assess and treat several patients but they did not airlift anyone to hospital.
"Our team left the scene at 10.41am and returned back to base."
