Gardai[1] this morning confirmed that no injuries were reported as a result of the smash. Dublin Fire Brigade[2] confirmed that they were on the scene of the smash and cleared it shortly after 7pm.

It is understood that the road traffic accident caused some traffic delays. In a statement this morning, a Garda spokesperson said: “This was a collision involving three vehicles that occurred at approximately 6:45pm on Wednesday 28th November 2023 on the M50 Junction 6 Southbound in Dublin 15. No injuries were reported.”

The crash comes after a seven-vehicle road traffic collision[3] on the M50 yesterday morning.

The crash occurred at Junction 9, Red Cow in the southbound direction, and initially resulted in the closure of the right and middle lanes. There have been no injuries reported due to the smash. Dublin Fire Brigade confirmed they were at the scene just after 7am yesterday morning.

They warned that lanes two and three were blocked and said there were “delays on approach” to the scene. But in an update, they said “recovery is well underway” and added: “We hope to be clear soon.

Thanks for your patience.” DFB attended the scene alongside members of An Garda Siochana and paramedics from the ambulance service. Gardai confirmed shortly after 8:30am that all lanes of the M50 affected by the crash reopened to traffic.

Images from the scene show that a number of vehicles suffered minor damage. Those at the front of the smash seem to be the worst-affected after the cars all rear-ended each other. Separately, the Dublin Port Tunnel was forced to close due to a possible vehicle fire[4] last night.

The roadway was closed in both directions and motorists were asked to avoid the area if possible. It is understood the incident occurred inside the Northbore of the tunnel. Traffic was being held and drivers experienced significant delays.

Both the Southbore and Northbore have now reopened.
