Icy road thought to have led to morning car crash

Road ice is thought to have led to a crash which saw a car spinning off the carriageway and hitting a post before ending up on its side in a ditch. Remarkably no one was injured in the one-vehicle collision. The incident happened early on Saturday morning on Llantwit Major Road near Cowbridge[1] in the Vale of Glamorgan.

The aftermath of the crash was captured by a drone flying over the scene. South Wales Police[2] confirmed they were alerted to the incident at 6.25am, and that a patch of ice on the B-road was believed to have led to the vehicle skidding off the road and ending up in the bushes. A spokeswoman said: “South Wales Police was called at 6.25am on Saturday, November 25 with a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision on Llantwit Major Road, Cowbridge. It is believed that the driver hit a patch of ice, skidded, hit a post and the car ended up in bushes at the side of the road.

The driver was not injured.”
