In the dock: Seven cases heard at Southampton Magistrates’ Court
ANDREW BOTTING, 45, of Howard Road, Shirley pleaded guilty to theft from a shop after an RAB jacket worth GBP242 was stolen from Go Outdoors, Southampton. He was fined GBP120. ROBERT JONES, 34, of Pendleton Gardens, Blackfield admitted theft from a shop after GBP36 worth of stock was taken from Sainsbury's in Southampton.
Jones must pay GBP36 compensation and a GBP40 fine. SUSAN HOBSON, 64, of Sandy Down, Boldre pleaded guilty to drink driving on Brookley Road, Brockenhurst. She was caught driving a Mercedes with 67 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath.
She was banned from driving for 17 months and fined GBP120. Hobson must also pay court costs of GBP85 and a GBP48 surcharge. Read our previous round-up here[1]
NEIL TAYLOR, 43, of Halden Close, Romsey[2] pleaded guilty to failing to stop after a road accident on Abbotswood Common Road, Romsey. He was driving a Vauxhall Vivaro. The crash left someone with a back injury and minor cosmetic damage.
Taylor also admitted failing to report the accident. He was fined GBP395 and received five points on his licence. He must also pay court costs of GBP85 plus a GBP158 surcharge.
ADAM OMAR, 44, of North Front, Southampton admitted causing criminal damage to glass in an entrance door belonging to Hampshire Constabulary at Southampton Central Police Station. Omar was given a six-month conditional discharge and must pay GBP60 compensation. DANNY HATCHER, 33, of Sedbergh Road, Southampton pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage to a car in Lebanon Road, Southampton.
Hatcher received a conditional discharge of two years and must pay GBP85 court costs and a GBP26 surcharge. TOBY SIMMONDS, 20, of Calverley Park Crescent, Tunbridge Wells admitted a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in Southampton. He received a one-year community order with 150 hours of unpaid work.
Simmons must also pay GBP100 compensation, GBP85 court costs and a GBP114 surcharge.
