Inquiry after young man dies in Land Rover crash that injured five in Coventry

Police have launched an investigation after a young man died following a serious collision in Coventry[1]. It happened on Brinklow Road in Binley[2]. Officers are appealing for witnesses after a Land Rover careered into a tree on Thursday (November 23).

It is believed the car was heading from Brinklow to Coventry[3]. Paramedics and the Air Ambulance Critical Care Car were called to the scene at around 11pm. A male passenger was found with life-threatening injuries.

He was given advanced life support but nothing could be done to save him and he was pronounced dead at the scene, said West Midlands Ambulance Service[5]. His next of kin have been informed. A second man, who was the driver of the vehicle, and a man and two women, who were passengers in the car, were assessed and had sustained life-threatening injuries.

All four were taken to University Hospital Coventry[6]. A sixth man, who was also a passenger in the car, was found to have sustained minor injuries. He was also taken to UHCW[7] in Walsgrave[8].

Inspector Michael Huntley, from Warwickshire Police[9], said: "It is a tragic loss of a young life and our thoughts are with their family at this incredibly difficult time. We are now asking for anyone who witnessed this collision, or who saw the Land Rover in the general area at that time to speak with us as we work to find out exactly what happened."
