Live as M18 shut with air ambulance on scene after serious crash

The M18 has been closed this afternoon and an air ambulance is at the scene of a serious van crash in South Yorkshire. The motorway was closed[1] southbound shortly before 2pm following reports of a serious collision involving a van. Emergency services and Traffic Officers rushed to the scene near the M1 Junction 32 and the M18 Junction 1[2].

Northbound traffic was held at the scene at around 2pm to allow the air ambulance[3] to land at the scene. There are delays of around 1 mile and increasing in the area, motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible. A report from Inrix said: “All traffic being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to accident on M18 Southbound from J1 A631 Bawtry Road ( Bramley ) to M1 J32.

Traffic is now also held in the northbound direction to allow emergency services to assist with the accident.” National Highways said on X (formerly Twitter): “Update – Traffic is now stopped on the M18 northbound between the M1 J32 and J1 Maltby to allow air ambulance to land for the serious collision on the southbound. There are delays building of approx 1 mile on approach.
