Live M1 updates as traffic stopped due to lorry fire
A lorry fire is causing long tailbacks on the M1 this evening. The fire is on the northbound carriageway, just south of junction 21 for Fosse Park and the M69. Leicestershire Police[1] said in a tweet just after 4pm today: “Please be aware that due to a lorry fire there is slow traffic on the M1 Northbound between junction 20 and 21.
Please find alternative routes. Updates to follow.” All traffic was temporarily held at around 4.05pm.
By 4.30pm, the queue of slow traffic stretched back about five miles to the Dunton Bassett area.
