Diversion Routes

Road users are advised to follow the hollow diamond diversion symbol on road signs if heading northbound.

• From the M1 junction 14 exit slip turn left onto the A509 to the next roundabout.
• Take the third exit onto the A509 Portway.
• Continue on the A509 Portway, passing over 8 roundabouts to the A5/A509 Portway Roundabout.
• At the Portway Roundabout, take the third exit onto the A5 north.
• Continue on the A5 to the A508/A5/A422 Old Stratford Roundabout.
• At the Old Stratford Roundabout take the fourth exit onto the A508 north east.
• Continue on the A508, Northampton Road, through Grafton Regis and Roade, and re-join the M1 at junction 15.

AA Roadwatch: ‘Road closed, severe delays and stationary traffic due to crash on M1 both ways between J15 A45 (Northampton) and J14 A509 (Milton Keynes). Congestion to roads around Towcester and Olney as traffic is forced to avoid the closure.’
