Armed police called to reports of man spotted with gun
Police have moved to reassure residents after a man was seen allegedly wielding a firearm outside their homes. Armed officers rushed to Acton in Wrexham, on Sunday, November 26, following reports from people in the area that a man had been seen with a weapon. The following day a man was arrested at Maes y Gornel, Rhosllanerchrugog, on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
He is still in police custody and officers are continuing their investigation into the alleged incident, NorthWalesLive reports.[1] In a statement North Wales Police detective inspector Dean Jones asked locals to stay calm and said the force has no concerns over public safety following the alleged incident. “I would like to reassure residents that this is understood to have been an isolated incident and we have no wider concerns for the safety of the community,” he said. The force has asked the public for help with its investigation.
DI Jones added: “Anyone with information that may assist our inquiries should contact us via our website or by calling 101, or anonymously via Crimestoppers, quoting reference number A187168.”
