Live weather and traffic updates as heavy rain causes flash flooding
Hello, and welcome to Wales Online’s live blog for Friday, November 10. Heavy rain and thunderstorms have caused flash flooding in parts of Cardiff this morning. There is flooding on Merthyr Road in Whitchurch, in parts of Llanishen and also reports Ty-Nant Road in Morganstown is just passable because of flooding from Heol Syr Lewis to Bryn Derwen.
Lightning strikes in the Valleys also caused a power cut in Gilfach Goch[1] with some internet routers being hit and car alarms being set off. Earlier on Friday, part of the A55 in north Wales was shut for a time this morning after a lorry fire and there was also an accident on the M4 near Swansea. A police incident also closed part of the A467 in Newbridge, Caerphilly.
The road was closed from the A472 Celynen roundabout to Hafod-Yr-Ynys Road. The closure affected Stagecoach Bus services in the area. Heavy rain has fallen in parts of Wales this morning, but the forecast is for sunshine and showers for the rest of the day.
