M40: Overturned lorry shuts motorway near Banbury
An overturned lorry has closed a stretch of the M40 in Oxfordshire. The HGV tipped on to its side across both carriageways between J11 and J10 near Banbury at about 16:30 GMT on Wednesday. The lorry has been cleared but barrier repair works are continuing.
Thames Valley Police said no-one was injured. The motorway is closed southbound with traffic diverted off Junction 11, lanes two and three are also closed on the northbound carriageway. National Highways said it hoped the motorway would reopen later on Thursday morning once the barrier repairs had been completed.
Motorists are being urged to allow extra travelling time, find an alternative route or delay their journeys.
