M5, A38, A303 traffic live in Somerset ahead of weekend rush
Drivers could face delays on major routes through Somerset when the normal weekend rush is expected to resume this afternoon (November 11). While the spring and summer months sees traffic levels peak on the M5, A303, A38 and other key routes across the region, Fridays remain busy throughout the year as people sign off their working weeks and travel to see friends, family or visit popular locations in Somerset, Devon and Cornwall. A crash on the A303 – the second in as many days – is causing delays on the Somerset and Devon border: “A303 in both directions blocked, delays due to accident from Chard turn off (Upottery) to Taunton turn off (Yarcombe).”
This blog will bring you live updates on traffic and travel matters on many of the major routes in and around Somerset.[3] The A303 at Broadway, near Ilminster was closed for around eleven hours yesterday after a serious crash yesterday. The busy A-road was closed between the A358 Horton Cross and the A30/A35 Honiton. Avon and Somerset Police[4] officers rushed to the scene where a diversion route was in place.
The road was closed from around 6am until shortly after 5pm.
