M5 crash leaves four people injured including two children

The crash happened shortly after 1pm on the northbound carriageway of the M5 between junctions 8 (Strensham) and 7 (Worcester South). At one stage delays of 90 minutes were being reported by National Highways as traffic built up on the motorway and connecting roads. A spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 1.06pm to a road traffic collision involving multiple vehicles on the M5 between junctions 8 and 7 in Severn Stoke.

INCIDENT The #M5[1] is currently blocked northbound between J8 #M50[2] #Tewkesbury[3] & J7 #Worcester[4] due to a collision. Emergency services are in attendance assessing the scene.

“Two ambulances and a paramedic officer attended the scene. Upon arrival we found two adults and two children from the cars. “All four were assessed and had sustained injuries not believed to be serious.

They received treatment at the scene and were conveyed to Worcester Royal Hospital for further assessment.” A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: “We received a call around 1.10pm this afternoon with a report of a collision on the M5, northbound, between J8 and J7. “Our officers attended the collision to find four vehicles involved.

Only minor injuries suspected at present.

“Currently one lane is open whilst we wait for recovery of vehicles.”
