M5 shut after lorry and van crash near Bromsgrove
A stretch of the M5 motorway has been shut following a crash involving a lorry and a van. Motorists faced delays of up to 45 minutes following the closure of the northbound carriageway at junction 4a for Bromsgrove and the M42. Two miles of congestion have been reported.
National Highways issued a warning just after 21:00 GMT on Monday and said traffic had been diverted to the M42 as far as junction 2. It said that meant delays were reducing. Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service has advised drivers to avoid the area if possible.
West Mercia Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service are also on the scene, but the extent of injuries is currently unclear.
