M6 serious crash live updates as junction to ‘remain closed for hours’

A serious crash has caused heavy traffic this morning on the M6 southbound. Motorists have been warned of one hour delays for J12 in Cannock.[1][2] It comes following a collision between a car and a lorry. National Highways West Midlands (NHWM)[3] first shared news of the crash just before 3am. And more than five hours later, the junction remains closed as police investigation work is carried out.

A spokesperson for NHWM said at 7.47am: “The M6 in Staffordshire remains CLOSED southbound within J12 Cannock Penkridge[4] following a serious collision. “Police investigation works are now ongoing.Traffic is being diverted via the exit & entry slip roads. There are delays of 60 minutes on approach to the junction.”
