Man, 48, dies after lorry and van crash on M5 as police launch appeal
A man died in a crash on the M5[1] yesterday evening (November 27). Emergency services were called to the northbound carriageway between junction 4A and 4 at around 8.30pm. West Mercia Police said the crash involved a lorry and a van.
Sadly, the driver of the van – a 48-year-old man – was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigating officers are now appealing for information on the collision. They are keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened or who has relevant dashcam footage.
Police said in a public appeal: “Officers carrying out enquiries into the collision are appealing for witnesses, including any motorists on the road around the time of the collision who may have dashcam footage. “Anyone with information is asked to the serious collision team on by email [email protected][4] quoting incident number 00423_I_27112023. Alternatively, information can be shared anonymously with the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or by visiting here.[5] “
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Upon arrival we found a man who was the driver of the van. He was assessed and was in a critical condition. He received advanced life support from ambulance staff at the scene.
“Unfortunately, it became clear that nothing more could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.”
