Man died in Barnstaple crash

Car hits electricity pole A man has died in a crash near Barnstaple. His car hit an electricity pole on the A361 at Heanton Court not long after midnight on Sunday.

The single-vehicle collision involved a blue BMW in which the driver, a 20-year-old man from Powys, Wales, sustained serious injuries. Despite the efforts of police officers and ambulance staff, he died at the scene. The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the scene until around 7.20am.
