THE A941 has reopened after a crash which saw firefighters free a man from his car before he was hospitalised.
The A941 was closed for around three hours today.
Attending alongside police and the fire service, the Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed that, following a call at 12.56pm today (November 20), two ambulances, an air ambulance and a trauma team were sent to the incident near the Ben Riach distillery. And the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they sent four vehicles to the crashed car “trapped down an embankment”. A man was stuck in the car, the spokeperson added, and had to be freed from the vehicle using “specialist equipment” before he was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by road.
Police closed the A941 in both directions for three hours following the crash, with the road reopening at around 4pm. During the closure, drivers had to take alternative routes via Birnie or Fogwatt. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 1.07pm on Monday, November 20 to reports of a road traffic collision on the A941, near Elgin.
“Operations Control mobilised four appliances to the scene, where firefighters were met by a vehicle which had become trapped down an embankment.
“Firefighters used specialist equipment to release one casualty who had become trapped within the vehicle. “The casualty was thereafter passed into the care of paramedics. “Crews left the scene after working to make the area safe.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1pm on Monday, November 20, 2023, officers were called to a report of a one-car crash on the A941 between Elgin and Fogwatt.
“Emergency services attended and one man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment. “The road was closed and reopened around 4pm.” And a Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 1256 hours today to attend a road traffic collision on the A941.
“We dispatched two ambulances, our trauma team and an air ambulance to the scene.
