Man punched and hit with shovel in village

A man was punched and hit with a shovel in Somerset[1]. According to Avon and Somerset Police, the attack took place in the village of Mark – located around 10 miles from Bridgwater[2]. Officers were called to Kingsway at around 2pm on Saturday (November 18).

However, after attending the scene of the assault around half an hour later, the victim could not be found. The man, aged in his 40s, has since been located, and police have taken a statement and secured footage of the incident. Investigating officers have released an image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the assault.

  • He is described as white, aged in his 50s, bald and was wearing a tweed jacket, light grey shirt, and dark trousers.

    Police said he was driving a grey Toyota Hilux. Avon and Somerset Police[5] said in a public appeal: “We’re appealing for the public’s help to identify a man who we’d like to speak to after a man was reported to have been hit with a shovel and punched. “Officers received report of an assault in Kingsway, in Mark, at around 2pm on Saturday 18 November.”

    They added: The man we’d like to speak to is described as white, aged in his 50s, bald and was wearing a tweed jacket, light grey shirt, and dark trousers.

    He was driving a grey Toyota Hilux.

    “If you have any information which could aid our investigation, please call 101 and quote reference 5223282450.”
