Melfort RCMP hand out over 30 traffic tickets, looking for stolen truck

The Melfort RCMP’s week between Nov.

16-22 was a busy one involving 126 files, including an incident on Nov.

16 involving the theft of jacket – along with the car keys in one of its pockets – from the northern Lights Palace in Melfort. Article content A video surveillance camera captured an image (below) of the suspect.

The detachment also responded to a report of a truck stolen from a residence on James Smith Cree Nation. The suspect entered a residence and took the vehicle keys from the owner’s coat pocket.

The blue 2008 Ford 150, with licence plate 262 NEN, was spotted in Prince Albert two days later. Anyone with information is asked to call the detachment. On Nov.

17, police received a report from the Naicam post office about a person or persons that broke into mailboxes. Nothing was stolen, but the boxes required repair.

On Nov.

18, the detachment’s traffic services units issued 26 traffic violations of various kinds on Highway 41 and Highway 6, including speed, use of cell phone while driving, and not wearing a seat belt. The previous day, five speeding tickets were handed out on Highway 3 between Melfort and Nipawin. On Nov.

21, police received a report from Facebook security warning of a person in Kinistino making suicidal comments on the social media site.

Family was contact and it was determined the person was safe.
