Mercedes driver killed in multi-vehicle horror crash on Peak District border
A man has died in a multi-vehicle crash on the edge of the Peak District[1]. Officers from Derbyshire police are investigating the fatal collision in Chapel-en-le-Frith. The collision involved a Mercedes A200, a Ford Transit van and a DAF truck[2].
The incident happened on Buxton Road at 7.30am on Tuesday (November 7). The driver of the Mercedes, a 41-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The road was closed for at least nine hours, according to local reports.
Poll: Do you ride a bike in Derby?[3] Motorists in the area also reported seeing an Air Ambulance at the scene. Officers are now appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Derbyshire police quoting the reference 23000690036. As a result of the lengthy road closure, there were severe delays in the Chapel area. To avoid the closure, many drivers attempted to use Ashbourne Lane, a narrow country lane, which caused long queues.
