Michelin-starred pub just outside of Gloucestershire named one of the best restaurants in the UK

A pub just outside of Gloucestershire has been named among the top 100 restaurants in the UK. The OpenTable UK Top 100 restaurants for 2023 list has been published, with nine popular pubs and restaurants across the West Country[1] celebrated. The list was compiled with the help of 1.2 million OpenTable diner reviews and dining metrics, including ratings from diners, percentage of reservations made in advance, and five-star reviews.

The list highlights some of the top spots favoured by diners this year, with one of the establishments proving to be a hit among foodies being The Butchers Arms[2] in Eldersfield, which is listed as being in Gloucestershire but is actually in Worcestershire. The 16th century eatery on Lime Street is a stellar example of a traditional British pub, priding itself on its characterful “low ceilings, wooden floors, roaring fires and real ale served straight from the cask”. The menu at The Butchers Arms is, arguably, a little upmarket compared to most watering holes, though, with its fare delicately and neatly arranged on plates.

The Butchers Arms comprises a Michelin-starred restaurant, which serves a small yet high-quality seasonal menu, and a bar, which promises to pour ale one cask at a time in a bid to deliver the crispest and freshest pints to patrons. Much of the food served at The Butchers Arms comes from the surrounding area and the South West in general, with its outstanding Middle White pork and Longhorn beef produced in Ross-on-Wye, and fresh fruit and vegetables coming from Pershore Produce. Here’s the full list of the South West restaurants named in the OpenTable Top 100 restaurants in the UK list:
