Middlesbrough bus station incident: One in hospital

Emergency services were alerted to the incident at the Middlesbrough bus station, in the town’s Gilkes Road, shortly after 5pm. Several police vehicles and two ambulances converged on the scene where a person was treated before being taken to hospital.The Northern Echo: Cleveland Police officers were seen at Stand 20, which is situated near Gilkes Street, in the town centre.

A cordon was been placed around an area from Stand 11 to 22 on the side of Gilkes Street. Police officers remained at the scene on guard as they wait for crime scene investigators to arrive. There were reports of the incident being an assault, but the nature of the incident has not been confirmed.The Northern Echo:

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called to an incident at Middlesbrough bus station tonight (20 November), shortly after 5pm. One patient was taken to James Cook University Hospital.” Members of staff have said the area will probably be closed for the rest of the night. Cleveland Police have been contacted for further details.
