Motorcyclist injured in Penzance crash, driver arrested

Police arrested the driver of a third vehicle involved in the accident in Penzance on Saturday afternoon after conducting an investigation. The motorcyclist received serious injuries in the accident at 4pm on Saturday, November 18 involving a motorbike and a car in Penzance on Chyandour Cliff at the junction for Lannoweth Road. The motorcyclist was taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Treliske for treatment but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The road was closed for five hours, while officers carried out an investigation. After further investigation it was discovered that a third vehicle was involved and the driver of that vehicle was arrested. They have now been released "under investigation".

Following the arrest police warned people not to speculate on social media about the incident. "Officers are aware of comments being made on social media regarding the collision and individuals they suspect to be involved and would ask that people do not speculate on social media," they said. A police statement on the incident said: "Police were notified just before 4pm on Saturday, November 18 to reports of a collision involving a motorbike and a car in Penzance.

"The incident happened on Chyandour Cliff at the junction for Lannoweth Road. "As a result of the collision the motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was taken to Treliske Hospital for treatment. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

"The driver of the car was uninjured. Family's sadness as body found in search for missing man[1] "Following further investigation, a third vehicle was reported to have been involved in the incident.

The driver of this vehicle was arrested shortly after and has since been released under investigation.

"A thorough investigation took place at the scene which meant that the road was closed approximately five hours."
