Motorcyclist killed in crash near Somerset-Wiltshire border
A motorcyclist has died following a crash with a car in Wiltshire this morning (November 14). Wiltshire Police were called to the A350 near Lacock at around 5.35am. Officers have since confirmed that a man, aged in his 60s and from Chippenham, died at the scene.
The road remains fully closed between the Lackham roundabout and Beanacre, Wiltshire Live reports[1]. Police say the route is expected to stay shut for around six to eight hours as recovery and investigative work takes place. Motorists have been urged to avoid the area and find alternative routes.
Investigating officers are now appealing for information from the public. They are keen to hear from witnesses or anyone with relevant dash cam footage. A police statement said: "A man has died following a collision on the A350 this morning.
Emergency services were called to the crossroads near Lacock at approximately 5.35am this morning after a motorcyclist and a car were involved in a collision. "The motorcyclist - a man in his 60s from Chippenham - sadly died at the scene. His next of kin has been informed and are being supported by a specialist trained family liaison officer.
Our thoughts are with the man's family at this extremely difficult time. "The road has been closed between Lackham roundabout and Beanacre. Due to the serious nature of the incident, the road is likely to remain closed for approximately six to eight hours while emergency services carry out recovery and investigative work at the scene.
"Drivers are urged to seek an alternative route.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash cam footage which could assist should call 101 and quote log number 27 of today."
