Nebraska woman found passed out in vehicle, charged with child abuse
NORFOLK, Neb. (KTIV) - A woman is facing charges after police say she was found passed out in a car with drugs, alcohol and an infant in the vehicle.
The Norfolk Police Division says at about 2:50 a.m. on Sunday, Nov.
26, they were called to the intersection of 7th Street and Madison Ave for a vehicle stopped in traffic that hadn't moved for some time.
According to Norfolk Police, an infant was seen in the back seat while 22-year-old Addison Emerson of Pierce was passed out in the driver's seat.
Police say they could see alcohol bottles on the passenger floorboard.
"Officers had a hard time waking the driver," stated the Norfolk Police Division in a press release.
Police say sobriety tests determined Emerson was impaired and she was arrested for driving under the influence and child abuse.
After a further search of the vehicle, police say they found a glass pipe that tested positive for methamphetamine and Emerson was also charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Emerson was eventually booked into the Madison County Jail.
After authorities contacted the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services the infant was released to a responsible adult.
