There were long delays following a crash on the M2 Belfast bound on Thursday morning.

The incident occurred on the M22 citybound at J1 Dunsilly after the on-slip – where it becomes the M2.

There were lengthening delays on both the M22 and the A26 shortly before 8am, when the vehicles involved in the collision were moved on to the hard shoulder.

The A26 queues remained into rush hour, stretching back well past the Ramble Inn.

It comes as a yellow weather warning for ice is in place in Northern Ireland with “difficult” driving conditions predicted for Thursday morning.

The Met Office has enforced a warning lasting until 10am, throughout the morning rush hour.

Icy patches are predicted, particularly on untreated roads, with the warning stretching over counties Antrim, Armagh, Down, Londonderry and Tyrone.

Additional salting took place of the scheduled road network overnight.

It comes after a similar warning was in force from early on Wednesday morning until 10am.

There were crashes on Wednesday in Belfast, on the Nelson Street offslip, and on Main Street in Moira.
