Passenger dies, driver seriously injured in Plainfield Township car crash

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- An 18-year-old Grand Rapids woman died after a car crash in Plainfield Township Thursday. The crash happened on Jericho Avenue NE near Peter Creek Drive at 8:30 p.m. when the driver, a 19-year-old Plainfield Township woman, allegedly lost control of her car and crashed into a tree, according to the Kent County Sheriff's Office Friday. The 19-year-old was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, and her 18-year-old passenger died, deputies said.

It is unknown what led up to the crash.
