Person dies near Lanarkshire train station as emergency services rush to incident on rail line
A person has died after emergency services scrambled to an incident on a train line in Lanarkshire[1] on Sunday evening. Services between Uddingston and Motherwell stations were temporarily suspended while police and paramedics attended to the incident. The line was closed for around two hours.
Transport officers[2] were made aware of a casualty on the tracks. The person was pronounced dead at the scene and the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to the line in Uddingston at around 17.47pm on Sunday (26 November) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. “Paramedics also attended, but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. “The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the Procurator Fiscal.”
