Police investigating fatal crash in northwest Modesto

A 73-year-old Modesto woman died at a hospital after a single-vehicle crash in a northwest Modesto residential neighborhood on Tuesday morning, according to the Police Department. Police investigators were called to the 2600 block of Bridle Path Lane to look into an GMC Yukon that had overturned as a result of having hit a parked Chevrolet Silverado at about 7:30 a.m. The Modesto woman, who was the driver of the GMC Yukon, was taken to a local hospital, where she died.

It had not been determined whether she died from her crash injuries or from a possible medical emergency experienced while driving, said Sharon Bear, spokeswoman for MPD. Police were still investigating the scene early Tuesday afternoon. Drivers were asked to avoid the area of the 2700 block of Bridle Path Lane, near its intersection with Barbera Lane, as police conducted their investigation.

The woman's name was withheld pending notification of family.
