Police issue update on attempted murder arrest after shooting in Evington Road in Leicester

Police have bailed a man arrested over a shooting in Leicester that left two men in hospital[1]. Witnesses are still being sought to the Evington Road incident, which created much shock in the community. The shooting happened close to Evington Road’s[2] junction with Chepstow Road at around 11.20pm on Wednesday, November 22, when police were called to following reports of two men being shot.

The pair both remain in hospital, with one in a serious condition. Officers from Leicestershire Police arrested a Leicester man in the Birmingham area on Friday, November 24, on suspicion of attempted murder[3]. He was transferred back to the county for questioning.

In an update, the force said the man, who is 29, had been released on bail pending further inquiries. Investigations into the shooting are still ongoing, the force said. Officers have directly appealed to a number of witnesses to come forward.

Police want to speak with a group of three people who were known to be standing on the corner of Evington Road and Chepstow Road at the time the shots were fired. Police are also keen to speak with the driver of a passing white saloon car in the hope to establish further details about the incident.
