Police issue update on search at Snowdonia crash site where four teens died
Police have completed their search of the site in Eryri where four teenagers tragically died following a crash. Jevon Hirst, Harvey Owen, Wilf Fitchett and Hugo Morris, all from Shrewsbury, were found dead in an overturned car just off the A4085 in Garreg, near Tremadog, on Tuesday. Loving tributes have been paid by loved ones and members of the community in both North Wales and Shropshire since the tragedy. Police had kept the A4085 closed in both directions while further searches of the site were carried out on Wednesday.[1][2]
In an update issued on Wednesday evening, police confirmed those searches had been completed. Superintendent Owain Llewellyn said: “Local officers and colleagues from the North West Underwater Search Team have concluded a thorough search of an irrigation ditch just off the A4085, in order to ensure that all items of property have been recovered.
“The road will be reopened by the Local Authority Highways Department [on Wednesday evening].
I would like to thank the local community and motorists for their patience today whilst we undertook this vital work. “We continue to update and support the families at this difficult time.” A member of the public alerted police on Tuesday after spotting a silver Ford Fiesta off the road.

The vehicle was found upside down and “partially submerged in water”. The group are thought to have been visiting the area over the weekend for a camping trip.
As police continued to investigate the crash, forensic specialists were seen passing the road block as well as underwater search teams, with the road closure remaining in force for hours. Following the heartbreaking announcement of their deaths, some of those closest to the four teens expressed their shock and grief on social media[5]. Crystal Owen, the mum of Harvey Owen, posted a message on her business Facebook[6] page that she felt like she was in a nightmare she wished she could wake up from.
