Police shut busy road near Newport after crash

Emergency services were at the scene of an accident involving two cars in Rogerstone, near Newport. Gwent Police said that the A467 was closed between Morrisons roundabout and What roundabout on Thursday morning (November 30). They had been called to reports of a crash at 5.50am

A statement said: “Officers attended, along with personnel from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and the Welsh Ambulance Service, to assist with traffic management and the collision involved two cars. No injuries were reported, and a section of southbound carriageway was closed to allow for vehicle recovery. The road has since reopened.”

Traffic maps for the area show heavy congestion in the area.

Traffic monitors reported that the road re-opened at 7.50am.
