Police statement after teenager attacked in Huddersfield town centre

West Yorkshire Police have released a statement following an attack on a young man outside Huddersfield bus station.[1] Callum Thornton, 19, says around four of five youths attacked him on Friday night just after he had finished work. His wallet containing cash and cards, and his Huddersfield Town[2] season card, were stolen.

He was punched in the face and knocked to the floor when he was kicked and stamped on. The youths were wearing balaclavas. He said he needed treatment in hospital after suffering two black eyes, bruising to his face and a minor injury to his jaw which has affected his ability to eat.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Police are investigating after a man was assaulted on Macauley Street, Huddersfield at around 8.20pm on Friday 17 November. The victim a 19 year old male suffered injuries to his face and head. Two males aged 17 and 15 were arrested on suspicion of assault but have been released facing no further action.
