WESTLAKE, Ohio -
Semi-truck overturns: I-90
Officers at 4 p.m. on Nov.
10 responded to a report of a semi-truck crash on the I-90 eastbound entrance ramp from Crocker Road.
Officers found that the trailer of the truck had overturned and struck the concrete median barrier. Investigation revealed that the truck was entering the highway when the load in the trailer shifted, causing the collision with the median. The ramp was closed for more than three hours while crews unloaded the truck and cleaned up the damaged vehicle.
The driver was cited for having a loose load.
Inducing panic: Clague Road
A University Hospitals employee at 4:15 p.m. on Nov.
10 called the Westlake Police Department to report that a disgruntled patient at the medical offices at Clague and Detroit roads pulled the fire alarm and then left the scene.
The police and fire departments responded while the building was evacuated. After confirming that there was no emergency, officers learned that the parent of a juvenile patient became enraged when the health care facility would not see her daughter because they arrived late for their appointment. After having "choice words" for the staff, the suspect pulled the fire alarm while walking out of the office.
Officers collected witness statements.
Inducing panic charges are pending for a 38-year-old Cleveland woman.
Disorderly conduct: Detroit Road
Officers at 6 p.m. on Nov.
9 responded to the McDonald's restaurant on Detroit Road west of Crocker Road after receiving reports of a man yelling at customers inside the restaurant.
The man had refused to leave after being evicted by the employees. Officers found the man outside the establishment. They noted that he was standing underneath a no-parking sign on the street when approached.
When questioned, the 69-year-old Niles resident said he was waiting for a bus. Apparently believing that he was at a bus stop, the man pointed to the no parking sign.
The officers noted signs of impairment and placed him under arrest for disorderly conduct while intoxicated. An open bottle of vodka was located as well.
The man was taken to the Westlake jail to await a sober person to take responsibility for him.
