‘Shock and sadness’ as vigil held in memory of teens killed in Eryri crash
A vigil was held near to where the four teenagers were killed in a crash in Eryri. The bodies of Jevon Hirst, Harvey Owen, Wilf Fitchett and Hugo Morris were recovered from a silver Ford Fiesta in Gwynedd[1] on Tuesday. A search was launched after they failed to return home from an overnight camping trip to Eryri. North Wales Police[2] said the bodies were found inside the overturned car which left the A4085 at Garreg, near Tremadog, and was partially submerged in water.
The news has devastated the Shropshire communities where the boys came from and the Trinity Centre in Shrewsbury will be hosting a vigil for the four friends today.
But it has also stunned the local Gwynedd community where the tragedy happened. This morning Rev Roland Barnes, Vicar of Penrhyndeudraeth, held a small but poignant service of remembrance in Garreg for the four students.
He also said it may be fitting for a memorial to be erected in their memory in the future.

He told North Wales Live: “It’s a feeling of shock and sadness in the community. You don’t expect anything like this to happen. About 50 residents were at the service.”
For now, floral tributes have been left in Garreg along with a small photo remembering the teens who sadly never made it home from their trip to the region. Sign up for the North Wales Live newsletter[5] sent twice daily to your inbox
