Sole Bay Fish Company: Suffolk chip shop given green light to rebuild restaurant after fire

A Suffolk fish and chip shop has been given the green light to rebuild part of its restaurant after a serious fire earlier this year. On May 1, a serious blaze at Southwold Harbour destroyed the Sole Bay Fish Company restaurant. The fire was initially caused by an electrical fault and resulted in a number of gas cylinders to exploding.

Nearby Mrs T's Fish and Chip Shop was completely destroyed, while several fishermen's huts were also affected. The Sole Bay Fish Company takeaway reopened in June and now planning permission has been granted for a "small part" of the restaurant to be rebuilt. The takeaway service will be closed from Monday, November 20, as construction work gets underway.

Customers can also purchase fresh fish as usual. On Facebook a spokesperson for the shop said: "We would like to thank all our loyal and new customers for supporting us with our 'al fresco' dining this summer and hope to see you all soon."
