Teenager badly injured after crash at busy junction in Coventry

A teenage cyclist suffered potentially serious injuries after a collision with a car in Coventry[1]. It happened at the junction of Walsgrave[2] Road and Sky Blue Way. Paramedics were called to the scene at around 3.30pm on Tuesday (November 28).

A Critical Care Car from The Air Ambulance Service also attended, said West Midlands Ambulance Service[3]. Crews found that the cyclist, who was a teenage boy, had sustained potentially serious injuries. He was taken to University Hospital Coventry[4] in Walsgrave[5].

It is believed the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was spoken to by officers, said West Midlands Police[6]. A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service[8] said: "We were called to reports of an RTC at the junction of Walsgrave Road[9] and Sky Blue Way in Coventry[10] at around 3.30pm. Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Critical Care Car from The Air Ambulance Service attended the scene where, on arrival, crews discovered a car and a cyclist had been involved in a collision.

"A male teenager, who was the cyclist, was treated by ambulance staff for potentially serious injuries. He was taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire[11] for further treatment." A spokesman for West Midlands Police[12] said: "We were called to Sky Blue Way in Coventry[13] just after 3.30pm to reports of a collision involving a teenage cyclist and a car.

He was taken to University Hospital Coventry[14].

Anyone with information has been asked to get in touch, quoting log 2967 of November 28."
