The only five star hotel in North Wales is named on list of the best 50 in the UK

The only five star hotel in North Wales has been named on a list of the 50 best in the UK. The annual table of the Top 50 Boutique Hotels in the UK has been released for 2023. It is curated and voted on by leading industry experts, hoteliers, travel writers and influencers.

This year Pale Hall, the independently owned luxury country house on the edge of Eryri National Park, has been awarded a coveted spot on the list for the first time. Pale Hall, in Llandderfel, near Bala[1], was a new entry, at number 31 on the list – one of just two Welsh hotels to make it into the top 50. The other was Grove of Narberth in Pembrokeshire.

Pale Hall general manager Debbie Cappadona said: “We are thrilled to receive this accolade and to be recognised by the expert judges as one of the top luxury places to stay in the UK. We look forward to welcoming even more guests to our unique and beautiful Victorian building, set in the stunning Welsh countryside.”

The hotel has an AA Five Red Star, with a AA three-rosette and Michelin Green Star fine dining restaurant. It was praised by the judges for offering “comfort and culinary indulgence” and its ethos which is focused on “relationships with local farmers, growers, fishermen and food producers”.

The Newt in Bruton, Somerset, received the top accolade as the number one boutique hotel in the UK. Chris Lowe, group director, hospitality and manufacturing at organisers William Reed, said: “We are delighted to be revealing this fantastic new list for 2023. It is so encouraging to see so many new entrants in the Top 50 this year as well as being able to showcase such a range of unique hotel experiences available across the UK.”
