Tributes to young woman ‘murdered’ in Ravensthorpe as police probe continues

Tributes have been paid to a young woman killed in Dewsbury as a murder investigation continues with a 35-year-old man in police custody. Emergency services rushed to the scene in Dearnley Street[1], Ravensthorpe, at 6.43pm Sunday, November 19, following reports that a woman in her 20s had been seriously injured. Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, she tragically died at the scene[2].

Police have since confirmed it was a domestic incident[3]. Yorkshire Live understands the couple had four small children, who could often be seen playing in the street. People have expressed their sadness on social media after hearing about the death of the young mum.

Robert Carradice wrote: “God bless her and her family! Just wrong.” Valerie Hobson said: “So sad.

Helen Clayton said: “…May the poor lady RIP no one should die like that.” In the latest statement on the incident from West Yorkshire Police, Detective Chief Superintendent Sarah Jones of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “A number of enquiries remain ongoing today into what has clearly been a very serious incident in Dewsbury. We recognise the concern and worry this will have caused to residents in the local area and are conducting an extensive investigation into what took place. “A man has now been arrested on suspicion of murder and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the matter which is being treated as a domestic related incident.

Local NPT officers will be conducting extra patrols in the local area today to reassure residents. “I would ask anyone who can assist police enquiries to contact the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team on 101 referencing crime number 13230642219 or online at www.westyorkshire.police.uk/livechat. Information can also be given anonymously to the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.”
