Emergency services rushed to a major motorway after a car was thrown on its side after it collided with a truck. Picture: Live Traffic NSW A major collision between a truck and a car has caused traffic to come to a halt in Sydney’s west.

At about 1.45pm on Tuesday, emergency services were called to the M7 at Cecil Hills, near the Elizabeth Drive exit, following reports of a collision which resulted in the car rolling over. NSW Ambulance assessed three people at the scene, with a man in his 70s sustaining an injury to his leg. He was later transported to Liverpool Hospital.

A Facebook post from Live Traffic NSW said: “Avoid the area. Traffic is heavy”. “If you’re heading south on the motorway, you’ll be diverted onto The Horsley Drive and you can use Cowpasture Road or Wallgrove Road and Elizabeth Drive to return to the M7,” it said.

“Allow plenty of extra travel time.”

Live Traffic NSW M7 crash Live Traffic NSW M7 crash Earlier on Tuesday, a fire sprinkler malfunction in the M8 tunnel caused traffic to bank up for 27km on the M8 and M5 from St Peters to Beverly Hills.

After opening at 8am, drivers could only use one lane, as Transurban crews worked to clear the water.

All lanes of traffic were finally reopened as of 2pm on Tuesday, however motorists were advised to exercise caution through the tunnel.
