Watch as Grimsby moped ‘maniacs’ weave in and out of traffic without helmets
A Grimsby motorist has captured the moment two moped ‘maniacs’ weaved through the traffic without helmets on. The driver, who wished to remain anonymous, was travelling along Yarborough Road when the moped pulled out in front of her and began drifting either side of the carriageway. Two young men can be seen on the moped without helmets as they travel across the roundabout towards Boulevard Avenue.
Afterwards, the vehicle turns down Henry Street and drops one of the passengers off before turning around in the middle of the road, narrowly missing another car. Putting themselves and other cars at risk, the driver[1] feared what may have happened had they carried on much longer. She said: “I was just driving along Yarborough Road in Grimsby[2], when they pulled out on me, which is a main road I’d like to add.
I saw straight away that they weren’t wearing helmets and were drifting across the carriageway. After that they went over the roundabout and overtook the car in front, pulling straight out into the traffic.” Posing a risk to other road users, the driver’s main fear was the injuries they could’ve caused themselves.
She added: “I don’t think they realised how vulnerable it made them not having helmets on. When he span round in the road at Henry Street the driver nearly crashed into the cars that were in front, I just couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

“They were maniacs.” However, it wasn’t just the lack of helmets that appeared to worry the driver. She said: “They weren’t going slowly either, they were going at around 30mph, it was so dangerous.
If they came off they could have been seriously injured, or worse, killed.” She added: “I’m really worried because they didn’t show any concern for their own safety or other people’s. Sadly, that seems to be happening more and more frequently too.
The worst thing was that it seemed like normal behaviour to them. “Something needs to be done to stop this from continuing. Before long it’ll cause a serious accident and a family will be left without their loved one.”
