What we know about Colwyn Bay incident that saw town locked down by police
A seaside town was locked down after a police incident early today. Officers descended on parts of Colwyn Bay[1] and roads were closed off. North Wales Police insisted there was no threat to the wider public but full details have not been revealed.
Police were called to an incident in the early hours of Monday morning.[2][3] Officers taped off the area and advised people to stay away from Greenfield Road and Bay View Road areas. But they stressed that there was “no ongoing risk to the local community”.
Officers were stationed at a black and white painted property on Bay View Road as forensic experts in white overalls and purple gloves worked at the scene, which was near Bay View shopping entre. Residents saw a greater police presence in the area as enquiries continued. The force was keen to point out that the incident was unrelated to a fire at a petrol station[6] in Old Colwyn.

The slip road was closed but police did not confirm whether that decision related to the Greenfield Road incident nearby.

The sliproad was re-opened by 3pm this afternoon.
Conwy[9] County Council councillor Abdul Khan, whose Glyn ward covers the area where police were at work told North Wales Live: “It’s a shock to everyone. I’m getting quite a few calls about it. “We know more or less what’s happened but the police are keeping tight-lipped about it at the moment which they have a right to do.
Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved.”
